Three new terms in the business place you want to know about

There are three new terms in business that you want to be up-to-date on...here goes (it's okay to chuckle to, I sure did).

HAVE YOU HEARD… of the new term “CLOCKROACHES?” It stands for people who spend most of their day watching the clock - instead of doing their jobs.

How about ECOSEXUALS? Ecosexuals are an evolving breed of city dweller for whom keeping green is every bit as important in their home life as in their work life, according to San Francisco Magazine, In fact, when looking for a life-partner or mate, they insist on certain characteristics such as conservationist and recycler, to name a few.

The third is...BLINK TECHNOLOGY, also known as cashless payments (or contactless technology) allows customers to wave a card in front of a sensor instead f swiping it or handing it to a cashier. It is predicted that the magnetic strip on the back of the credit card will be history by the year 2015.

Now how's this to be up-to-date with new vocabulary? I do have a problem thinking of myself as a ECOSEXUAL no matter what the definition is.

Get faster search results on the Net

Want to find things on the net quicker, save time and get better results? Use Boolean searches. Boolean search terms allow you to define your searches more precisely by using the following three search terms: “and,” “not” and “or” when you surf. For instance, if you were surfing using the terms “business strategies” (165 million results) you could change it to “business building tips and strategies (less than2 million results)” to narrow the search.

You could further narrow your search by including an “or, or a “not” phrase in your search.
You can also save time by using “implied” Boolean search terms, such as a “+” sign instead of the word “and” and a “-“ sign to exclude certain terms.

I once had Ted Demopoulos on my radio show and have his two books. In his book Blogging for Business (Kaplan Publishing 2006), written with Shel Holtz, he provided two websites that are useful to authors.

We all probably know about Google Alerts, in which you put in your key words and receive news with those words.

Well, http://blogsearch.google.com is the same thing, except it tracks blogs with your keywords.

The other site is http://www.2rss.com, which is keywords and tracing RSS feeds.

Need your feedback on holding a book writing event

Good morning, Catherine Franz here.

Over the years I've been teaching a workshop called, "How to write a book in a weekend." Then for the last several years I've not given this workshop because I needed a break from all the travel. This is why I'm writing to you now -- I need your feedback.

If I held another live event on a weekend, is this something that you would be interested in attending? (I'm not asking for any commitment at this time just a show of hands of who's interested.)
Answer yes or no: Is this a weekend workshop you would be interested in attending?

If you answered yes, would you prefer attending it live in the Washington, DC area, or would you prefer to get away to the Harpers Ferry, West Virginia area?

If location is a challenge, what would make it a yes?

If you answered yes, would you prefer to have the room and food included in with the conference fee?

If this event was held the first weekend in December 2007 in West Virginia, would this be a good time for you to attend?

Lack of Education is Just an Excuse

According to Jay Zagorsky, Ph.D., an economist at the Center for Human Resource Research at Ohio State University says that you don't need to be an Einstein to bring in serious cash. A study of 7, 403 baby boomers found that, overall, people of below average intelligence are just as well off as those with higher IQ scores.

What kind of family you are born into house, of course, a lot to do with income. But when it comes to mental makeup, self-control is a more significant factor in intellect. What he's saying here is that what is important is to keep the wallet closed when faced with a whim purchase and that using "I don't have enough intellect or education" as an excuse is a bunch of bunk.

Weath-building doesn't required education or lots of intellect!

There are five stages to the power of self-motivation.

The first stage is what I call the "thinking" stage. This is where you think about what your objective is.

The second stage is what I call "mulling it over". You mull over your choices of what the objective is, how important it is for you, and it is a good choice for you right now.

The third stage is the preparation stage. This is where your mind body and spirit come together to prepare you for getting the test done.

The fourth stage of self motivation is the implementation or action stage. This is where you are actually beginning the task.
