Personal teleconference lines can be expensive for new entrepreneurs, especially if you aren’t sure they will work for what you are trying to do. If you relate to this challenge, then combining your energy with one, two, or even three others (creating a joint agreement) would definitely keep the cost down.
First, I am not going to sell you a conference line, nor send you to an affiliate to make some money off you today. I am providing this information based on the experience that I have had doing this.
The biggest question that arises first is…
How do you do to handle the scheduling with the others?
There are multiple answers, here are two of the best solutions I have found that really work!
If there are only two of you sharing the same line, of course, it is much easier. One of you can have the odd hours, the other even hours. For example, the odd hours are 7 pm; the even hours are 8 pm, or 3 pm and 4 pm. You get the idea. If one needs a different time, then one just asks the other.
With more then two people, the even/odd method can get a little complicated.
Another way is to set up a private group in Yahoo Groups, choose the calendar appearance and mark the time you want to record. You can also use this method if there two, three, or even four of you sharing the conference line.
This second way worked out well until I shared with three and four people. Then the prime time spots of 7 pm and 8 pm Tuesday thru Thursday have to be a challenge and a sore thumb on occasion. In this particular case, I recommend reaching some type of agreement or a set of ground rules prior to going the sharing route.
Oh, yes, on a final note. You need to have an opt-out guideline. If someone chooses to leave, what are the requirements? Do they need to find a replacement? Is there a phase out plan – for example over a period of several months? Does it mean that the group is dropped and needs to be started again? This can be good and time consuming. Good because then it lets new people come in. Bad because its time consuming. Another consideration is a certain period for the agreement and then the agreement is renewed. What does it mean?
