John Lennon stood for peace. Einstein curiousity, DiVinci too. Nelson Mendalla, nonviolence, racial equality and harmony. Oprah, empowerment and international awareness. Mother Theresa, everyone is worthy.
Now it's your turn...
What do you stand for? Is it spirit, action, collaboration, emplowerment, awareness, thinking big, clarity, understanding, inspiration, laughter, what? Yes, laughter. In fact, she calls herself a laughologist.
What makes you feel good? Twinks your Twinky? What gets you excited? What one word describes how you want to be known? What makes you glad you do what you do?
You may be selling the same thing as others, but why do people buy from you?
Let's take one example, empowerment. If that is what you stand for how is it represented in all that you do (action), feel, and deliver? Can you see this in your logo? On your stationary? On your web site? In your voice mail message? In every conversation with a prospect or a customer?
How about your inner voice? Is it representated there as well?
I am asking a lot of questions to get you thinking. To come up with the answer to "What do you stand for?" Some people say this is the word you want on your grave stone. Uck, that's too much for my mind to wrap around. I much prefer a more positive note.
Your assignment is to find the one word that describes who you are. Then ask friends and customers if this word fits you. Then the tough part happens, you need to see where you are out of integrity with what you stand for in your business. This isn't so easy, however, it is the one top thing that will change your success around. And change it around fast.
Take the plunge. Get wet with this. Let me know what happens, what you come up with or any aha moments you've gotten from this journey.
